Linda McCann Story Linda McCann Posted: Tuesday, January 10, 2012 12:15 am Font Size: Default font size Larger font size Linda McCann McFARLAND, Wis. -Linda (Baierl) McCann, born on Aug. 22, 1952, quietly passed away in her home, at the age of 59, on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012. Surrounded by love, Linda lived her life in the same way. Those who knew her also knew that she had love for a great amount of people. Always being selfless, she loved to help others. You may have seen her donating her time at Badger games, where she would sell concessions that supported Capital Sound. She was also a regular fixture at many drum corps performances, where you could have seen her cheering on her beloved Blue Stars. Linda always wanted to give back to the Drum & Bugle Corps which she believed saved her life. Due to this, the family will set up a scholarship fund in Linda’s name for those that can’t otherwise afford to participate in this sometimes expensive activity. Linda also took her wealth of generosity into her professional field. She was a gifted nurse that enjoyed directing her gift of healing to others. Graduating at the top of her class in 1989 as a registered nurse, Linda eventually moved to the challenging field of cardiothoracic surgery. Linda described the reward that this position provided as her greatest love. Her peers would describe her as an exceptional individual with superior nursing skills, and always dutifully providing the highest quality of care to her patients. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grandchildren. She was skilled at coaxing a giggle and a smile out of even the most stubborn of her grandchildren. She was adored by all who knew her because of her loving spirit. Linda will be joining her mother-in-law, Millie, who was much more to Linda than words can describe, however, words such as best friend, confidant, and mother come close. Somewhere, in the great beyond, Millie and Linda will once again enjoy a trip to the closest casino. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Tim; her children, Jamie (Nick) Crawford, Kari Baierl, Laura (Kyle) Jackson, Jessica (Jon) Schipper, and Katie McCann; grandchildren, Sam and Max Schipper and Finley Jackson; brother, Rod (Sue) Ferguson, and Jeff Ferguson; sisters, Marie (Bob) Miller and Rose (Dennis) Stone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Pat Ferguson; her first husband, Randy; and her mother-in-law, Millie Baierl. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family of Linda McCann.
