Kaye Wrobel (Karis) VIEW PROFILE

Kaye Lynn (Wrobel) Karis, 59, of Duluth died Friday, Oct 28, 2011, at Solvay Hospice House after a very courageous battle against ALS.

Kaye was born Sept. 27, 1952, in La Crosse to Richard and Lucille (Nerison) Wrobel.

She graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1970. She attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in 1974. On Aug. 24,1974, she married Thomas Karis and they were later divorced.

Kaye worked for many years in retail with Maurice’s and J.C. Penney’s and retired as a jewelry manager in 2008. In addition to her retail career, Kaye devoted her life to raising her beloved children, Eric, Michelle and Stephanie. Even though her time with them was short, she cherished every moment with her grandchildren, Teagen and Lucy. She especially enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She loved to garden and spend time outdoors. Some of Kaye’s favorite moments were her trips to Chetek, being on the pontoon boat, shaking dice, talking smart, having just one more, sharing family memories and frequent trips up the North Shore. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Kaye is preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and grandparents.

Kaye is survived by Dan Leischke of Duluth; children, Eric Karis of St Paul, Minn., Michelle (Jon) Stovall of Farmington, Minn., and Stephanie Karis of Duluth; and grandchildren, Teagen and Lucy Stovall.
