Lester E Averill

Lester E. Averill, 59, of Atchison died at his residence June 2, 2010. A memorial visitation will be held today, June 8, at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison from 5:30 to 9 p.m. A sharing of memories will be at 7:30 p.m. led by his daughter, Cecelia Averill Nashatizadeh. Lester was born April 18, 1951, in Richland, Wash., the son of Floyd and Theresa Munroe Averill. He attended school in La Crosse, graduating from Central High School in 1970. Lester served as a registered nurse. He was a devoted father, brother and grandfather. He was a dedicated and compassionate nurse to those in his care. He touched people in a unique way with his unusual sense of humor and kindness without expectation. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 7, 1970, until his honorable discharge in 1974. Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Averill Nashatizadeh, married to M. Jawad Nashatizadeh, of Merriam, Kan.; his mother, Theresa Averill of Dothan, Ala.; two sisters, Gail Cooley of Hanford, Calif., and Julie Bigham of Dothan; two brothers, Paul Averill of La Crosse and Dean Averill of Dothan; and his two grandchildren by his daughter, Brigitta Averill. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brigitta Averill; and his father, Floyd Averill.
